Summary/Abstract: The article presents the most important European Union policies and standards aimed to assure a high degree of protection for the forests against illegal logging. There are severe problems in Romanian forests, following the massive, illegal and uncontrolled deforestation. As result, the forests surface in Romania considerably decreased. That why, the author appreciates the importance of dissemination and integration of European standards in national juridical framework.
