Affordability analysis of housing in voivodeship cities in Poland using the TOPSIS method

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to analyze the affordability of housing in voivodeship cities in Poland. The analysis was carried out for the year 2015. The data source was the Polish National Bank reports and the data collected by Polish Central Statistical Office. Appropriate quantitative indicators were chosen and selected and then analyzed by TOPSIS method, which made it possible to compare and rank the surveyed cities in terms of housing affordability. Cities ranking was made using three variants of giving weights to each variable. Highest affordability of housing occurred in Katowice and Gdansk. The estimated rate was high also in Szczecin, Warsaw, Poznan, Wroclaw and Rzeszow. Cities with the lowest affordability of housing according to the analysis were Bialystok, Bydgoszcz and Kielce.
