IDENTITY NARRATIONS IN TADEUSZ RÓŻEWICZ’S PROSE

Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the questions of subjectivity in the texts by the author of Przerwany egzamin (Interrupted Exam). Reconstruction of Różewicz’s ‘I’ is based on Paul Ricoeur’s concept of narrative subjectivity, presented in his writing O sobie samym jako innym (On Myself as Someone Else), as well as in other papers of his, devoted to personal identity, narrative (self)interpretation of ‘I’, relation between a subject and another human being and ethic conditions of subjectivity formulation. However, the analysis is not an attempt to illustrate Ricoeur’s philosophical thought, but synchronic specification of textual rules of appearing and defining of subjectivity in Różewicz’s narrative compositions.
