UE cohesion policy as a source of funding of innovation activities of enterprises in Poland.

Summary/Abstract: Innovation and advanced technologies are the basis for the development of enterprises, and thus the whole economy. Innovative enterprises are competing against other entities, allowing them to increase market share, and thus makes it possible to achieve measurable economic benefits. EU funds are currently the most important source of financing innovative projects in enterprises in Poland apart from own funds. In 2012-2014 every fourth active innovative industrial company and every fifth service company received public financial support from the European Union. These funds may, therefore, when used effectively, help raise the level of innovativeness of the Polish economy. This article aims to show the role of cohesion policy in financing innovative enterprises in Poland.
