Summary/Abstract: The article refers to issues linked with the search for explanation of significant development diversity of Polish cities unrelated to their size. Considerations are carried out in the context of new concept of development i.e. hybridization. The aim of the paper is on the one hand a presentation of the dynamics of urban development, and on the other, a demonstration of the absence of links between deepening diversification of the dynamics of urban development and the size of Polish cities. Methodologically the paper is based on a desk-research method, and on the analysis of the dynamics of indices compiled in portfolios for comparing the dimensions of the cities dynamics in the following conditions: economic, financial, social and demographic. The analysis includes 223 Polish cities over 20,000 inhabitants organized in groups according the EUROSTAT methodology
