The identification of voivodship groups by the level of industry sector development

Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to develop the classification of voivodships by the level of industralization as one of the factors affecting regional socio-economic development level and the state of enviroment. It allows to the assessment of social and environmental factors in the defined groups of regions featuring various levels of industrialization. Voivodships were classified based on the indicators characterizing both economic and job market aspect of industry development using cluster analysis method. Cluster analysis was carried out using one of the hierarchical methods − Ward agglomeration method. Synthetic measures of the development (SMD) with the common pattern of development were used to assess changes in the positions of individual voivodships in time. The study covered 16 Polish regions in 2015, taking into account the changes recorded against 2009.
