Summary/Abstract: In the article, the author highlights the basic stages of formation the concert as a form of public representation of music in the XVII - XIX centuries. Based on historical discourse of the concert as artistic action in the Western European cultural space, it is singled out the basic components of the concert as part of the cultural and artistic life and as a form of public representation of music. The grounds for classification concerts from its earliest to the latest forms are analysed.
