Summary/Abstract: The paper presents a review of the literature and the results of own research. Nowadays food is more and more available to a man, its price is varied to cater to the basic needs of a modern man. The food industry offers the opportunity to buy at an affordable price food in bulk produced in large factories. An alternative to this type of food is the food which makes use of natural raw materials, and which production process does not compromise its quality. It is becoming more and more traditional nowadays. Consumers are increasingly demanding as it comes to food products, they want them to become more functional, improve overall health, reduce the risk of civilization diseases, and support health. Food is also a continual object of research, development and modification, refined for various and unknown applications. The purpose of the publication is to analyze the importance of traditional foods in shaping the quality of life of consumers. Research shows that consumers choose traditional foods because of their specific taste, quality, appearance, nutrition, health and safety. These factors of choice seem to be important mainly because of the relationship between traditional food and daily consumption, and not only because of occasional and festive character.
