Analysis of living standard of families raising a child with a disability

Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article is to present the living standard of the family raising a child with a disability compared with a family raising children without disabilities. The hypothesis assumes that the financial living level of the family with a child with a disability is lower than of the families with children without a disability. The calculation was made using the unpublished data coming from the Household Budget Survey 2014. Income disparities in both groups are at the similar level, but the income level of households with children with disabilities is lower than a family with children without disabilities. Families of the reference group receive a large part of the income from public benefit; this is the main source of income for about 16% of these families. Meeting the needs in this group is lower compared to the group of households with children without a disability.
