Summary/Abstract: This study examines the impact of the increasein social benefits on the workforce participation ofmothers rearing children with disabilities. Since 2010,social policy in Poland has changed, leading to moregenerous payments from the state to families withchildren. Based on a large national probability samplefrom the Household Budget Survey of 2010, 2019, and2021, the employment rates are examined usingpopulation estimates, a measure of information value, andlogistic regression. The results reveal that mothers ofchildren with disabilities are much less likely to take upemployment than mothers of typically developingchildren. Over time, this difference has widened. Amother’s education is the most informative predictor ofher employment status. Moreover, its predictive powerincreases, as the less educated tend to quit their jobs andthose with tertiary education work more often.
