Summary/Abstract: The article reviews the main artistic and expressive means of decorating of Ukrainian bowls, patterns and principles of composition and ornamentation are characterized, decorative elements of traditional Ukrainian ceramics in the context of the problems of revival, preservation, use of folk art traditions through the development of new areas of decorative-applied art and etnodesign are interpreted. In studying the laws and principles of shaping ornament features, ornamental motives of painted ceramic art it is important to research that contribute to the revival and preservation of national folk art, outline the trends and innovative use of the traditions of painting from ornament (graphical system-guard) in arts and crafts and etnodesign. The basic material from which ceramics is made is clay, which occupies in economic and artistic activities a prominent place. Universal properties of clay man has known since ancient times and has used it for a different purposes: housing, home decoration, production of consumer goods and so on. Making dishes in some nations had not only functionality, it was surrounded by a halo of sanctity and mystery. In the world of mythology, folklore texts in Ukrainian legends dishes are identified with astral objects – the sun, earth, moon, stars, symbolizing the power of deities. The method of decorating earthenware – engraving, painting engobes, stamping, etc. glossing depended artistic expression of dominant motives in decorating pottery. The main sign of ornament stands when art is considered as an ornament sign system. Ornamental Composite System decorating pottery is a genetic code of the artistic traditions of Ukrainian culture. The research of artistic and aesthetic properties of composite patterns of building forms and regional elements of ornament features in the works of folk pottery is important to study the figurative style features Ukrainian folk painting, particularly in pottery. Semantics decor depends primarily on the functional purpose of an object and its expressive décor from the artistic tradition of selecting songs, motives and other elements. At the heart of varieties of composite constructions (rhythmic, symmetrical, asymmetrical) means a large role is given to colour. Ornamental Composite System decorating ceramic products based on the laws of tradition, integrity and tectonics. In the arts and crafts artistic tradition regulates the process of selection, development and socio-cultural experience restoring. Law tradition helps giving correct judgments about the degree of artistic value of new works of decorative art, providing direct access to the world's ethnic and artistic memory and enables comparative analysis of their contribution to the treasury of culture. The law tradition has the structure of a composition, particularly in the form and decoration of ceramics. Innovative décor search cannot be made without traditions and professional skills without acceptance or rejection of certain compositional schemes. Therefore there is a great need for support, revival and development of the best traditions of Ukrainian pottery, which is not exhausted as with ritual, art, and from a practical point of view. Law tectonic forms in folk art embedded in tradition, helps identify material type of artistic structure and development of constructive forms. Law tectonics helps in making expedient choice of structure and design work, tools and techniques of composition (rhythm, contrast, symmetry, asymmetry, dynamics, statics. By means of emotional and artistic expression craftsmen and professional artists use texture, colour, graphics (lines, points , stains silhouettes, etc.) metaphor, semantic means. The feature integrity act of decoration works of decorative art is a subordination of decorative elements into a single composite system that reveals and highlights the constructive form and content of work according to traditional areas.
