Academic deposit as a new legal category and its implementation in university library

Summary/Abstract: The paper refers to last year changes in Serbian Legal deposit law, which requested the publishers to deliver one copy of their production to University Library “Svetozar Marković” in Belgrade. Its first part gives a revue of actual law regulation and presence of deposit copies in university libraries in Europe. After an analysis of the legal solution proposed six years ago and the one accepted in 2016 the first result of law implementation are presented. The final part is dedicated to the short-term and long-term direction the institution should follow in the future.
