Summary/Abstract: The main idea of the article is an attempt to demonstrate the existence of commonality in the understanding of the world in science and musical practice in modern times. In the modern humanities growing interest to the methods of knowing the world, formed in the natural sciences. However, without the development of methods of analysis of the material, which allows us to prove community, many observations can only stay at the level of metaphor. The proposed method of analysis involves three steps: 1) correlation of chronological boundaries of historical periods in the development of science with the situation in musical practice (and vice versa);2) proof of the match start and end of periods in the science and art of music by comparing the number and significance of the events; 3) identification of the main principles of natural knowledge of the world, dominating at a certain historical stage. Carrying the analogy between them and the specificity of the organization of musical material, indicative of the time.
