Summary/Abstract: IT specialists engaged in the issues of evolutionary algorithms claim that there has been a transfer of knowledge from biology to computer science, i.e., certain findings in evolutionary biology have become an inspiration for the creation of algorithms whose function is analogous to that of naturally occurring evolutionary processes. If this is correct, the following question should beanswered: what is the extent of knowledge transfer from evolutionary biology to computer science dealing with evolutionary algorithms? Answering this question becomes possible after a prior review of the working mode of evolutionary algorithms.
