Long-term financial planning in self-governance

Summary/Abstract: Planning as a basic function of the management process is gradually becoming one of the main scopes of action of local government. Special importance of the financial management is the long term planning. Informed decision making about the number and scope of the tasks, specially investment tasks, and their execution, require providing adequate financial sources. A tool that makes it possible is a multiannual financial plan. The aim of the article is to present the factors determining affective long-term financial planning in local government, which can contribute to the better use of public funds.
