The meaning of services in the international trade of Dolnośląskie Voivodeship

Summary/Abstract: This article explores foreign trade from the point of view of regional development. The objective of this research is to assess the significance that an international exchange of services has for the economy of a borderline region. The research focuses on Dolnośląskie Voivodeship. The statistical data analysis method was used, covering the period from 2010 to 2013. Foreign trade in goods and services was analyzed in the article. Using selected indicators, including the goods and services export rate, an attempt was made at assessing the role of services in the economy of Dolnośląskie Voivodeship. The results of this research point to a growing share of services in the studied region’s international trade. Moreover, its economy is becoming more and more open, which contributes to the region’s development.
