Summary/Abstract: This article explores why young, well earning elite workers in good working conditions are attracted by radical right-wing messages. Trade union activists in the car industry in West Hungary were surveyed in 2015. Th e survey found two causes of being attracted by right-wing messages. One of them is that family socialization is maintaining the hard memory of the fifties and opens up youth to messages against the left. Deeply rooted national feeling characterises their political views as well. The second cause is a perception of being exploited in multiple ways. First, by the foreign owner of their workplace where they earn much more than other Hungarian workers, but less than workers in western countries. They see the systemic change incomplete and feel duped by the left. They also think that FIDESZ dropped its promises made in 2010. Their affective links based in family socialization, the idea of suffering multiple exploitation and political disappointment make them sensitive to right-wing messages.
