Local revitalization program as the tool for the development of Świdnica

Summary/Abstract: In order to realize revitalization project in particular municipalities/cities the local revitalization programs (LRP) are implemented. This local revitalization programs are developed, accepted and coordinated by local authorities. Local revitalization program is a long-term program of activities concerning the space, infrastructure, society and economy of particular territorial units implemented to get this area out of the crisis and create conditions for its further development. LRP is a strategic tool enabling municipalities and other entities, which want to participate in revitalization process, to apply for UE funds. The paper presents revitalization process in Świdnica city and is an attempt to assess the effects of the revitalization activities of the Świdnica area. The starting point in the study are author’s considerations about revitalization as an instrument of local development policy. In this context the specificity of the city was discussed and the state of the implemented programs and the process of revitalization of Świdnica are presented.
