On the Problems of Cataloguing the Defters from the Archive of the National Library of Bulgaria

Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the initial attempts to start an electronic catalogue of the defters (types of registers), housed in the Oriental collections department, following the growing interest towards this particular source. It offers a review over the history of their acquisition since the establishment of the National Library. Such registers are to be found scattered in all the funds of the archival collection. Adding them to an electronic catalogue, which will ease the access to these valuable documents. The elements of electronic description reveal both basic and additional information, which is meant to help all the researchers.
