Summary/Abstract: The article aims to show one of the possible encounters of Internet and ethnography, proceeding from some initial results of the study of the group of Banat Bulgarian catholics, existing in the virtual space. The scholarly context has been outlined in which virtual ethnography is born and exists. Some of the problems are considered in studying the virtual field and the virtual settlement, as well as the virtual community, whereby emphasis is laid on the role of “the language” in it and about it. A complex approach has been used, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. The community of the Banat Bulgarian catholics observed in its two dimensions (virtual and material) is added to the growing number of acts of the post-modern glocalisation – a two way homogeneous process of global diffusion and of the secondary attachment of the most varied and problematic community identities to the local.
