Summary/Abstract: In financing of innovation activity exists a equity gap. That is the reason, that in West Europe and in Poland financing institutions came into being to fund the gap. The members of financing institutions are business angels, local or regional loan funds and guarantee funds. The basic aim of article is to determine, how the institutions influence on innovation activity in industry companies in two regions in Poland: Lubusz and Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The regions are characterized by different development of industrial system. The research was conducted in 1517 companies in 2014 for the years 2011 to 2013. The main conclusions are: 1. Business angels have significant and positive influence on innovation activity in the developed region (Lower Silesian) and their activity is insignificant in underdeveloped region. 2. Companies which cooperate with loan and guarantee funds more often come into “mature” innovative investment (expenditure on R&D, the implementation of new technological processes) than companies in underdeveloped region (here was observed the influence on the new fixed assets).
