Summary/Abstract: In one way or another, we all have an image of what is or eventually should be a democracy. In the same way, perhaps in a more diffuse way because of our experiences and collective memories, we also have some representation about what a transition to democracy should look like. These representations are not ideologically neutral, nor alien to the environment or conjuncture. The present text, rather than describing a (historical) process, proposes, instead, a political sciences analysis about Chile’s difficult road to democratization after the fall of Pinochet’s regime. Afterwards, it tries to review the constructed imaginary about the transition process and its temporal variations.
