Summary/Abstract: Between the two great wars of the last century in Satu Mare functioned a museum and a library that belonged to the mayor's office and contained an important collection of books, art objects, photos, numismatics, ethnographic textiles etc. The inventory of the museum and of the library of Satu Mare municipality dated to 1932 and made by Coriolan Nemțiu, chief accountant and registrar at the city mayor's office, mirrors the situation of the patrimony of the museum and library. The library had two departments: a Hungarian library which contained 992 books and a Romanian library that had enlisted 824 books. A very important component of the Romanian library was the collection I. G. Bibicescu, who donated 395 books to the Romanian library from Satu Mare. The museum collection was also divided into two parts: one held different pieces of furniture, paintings, photos and old books (848 pieces) and the other held weaponry, objects made of stone and clay, ecclesiastical patrimony, numismatics, ethnographical textiles and household objects (419 pieces).
