Summary/Abstract: The presence of the Jews in the community of Tăşnad has been attested since the nineteenth century. The number of Jews was significant and their influence on cultural and economic life had a considerable impact. The synagogue represented the centre of the Jewish communities' lives, along with the schools. The foundations of the Orthodox synagogue in Tăşnad were laid in 1867, which functioned until the end of the Second World War. In addition to this synagogue, since 1919 there has been a very important Yeshiva which in the 1930s was attended by about 500 students. In Tășnad, the Jewish community played an extremely important economic role, many Jews being landowners or homeowners, lessees, administrators, merchants, craftsmen and storeowners but also some who have important professions like doctors, pharmacists, dental technicians, balneologists, lawyers, economists, officials etc. The Jewish community from Tășnad has 2 cemeteries with old funeral stones that confirm the presence of Jewish from old times. Nowadays, the Jewish community from Tășnad is almost lost and only the testimonies of their culture and civilization prove their existence in the multicultural society of Tășnad.
