Summary/Abstract: This paper presents a review of Teresa Winek’s "Adam Mickiewicz’s “Pan Tadeusz.” Autographs and editions". The main focus is on the origins of the modern Polish school of scholarly editing, as it was formed by editors and posthumous editions of Pan Tadeusz in the 19th century. The author remarks also on how that tradition affects our thinking on editorial goals today, as well as on links between the research methods used in Teresa Winek’s work and those characteristic to new philology.
