Summary/Abstract: Since the second half of the 19th century, under the patronage of Madona Dudu Trust, it was founded one of the most important institutions from Craiova, Madona Dudu psychopathic Hospital, the first modern institution of its type from Romania, meant for the healing of the mental illnesses. We have to notice the fact that Madona Dudu Asylum benefited by qualified medical assistance, treatment similar to that from the western hospitals, but also by doctors who tried to show a compassionate attitude towards the ill people. The financial and material support of Madona Dudu Trust made Madona Dudu Asylum a famous systematic hospital, where the lunatics found rational and humanitarian treatment, many of them also finding here their cure. The interest towards the medical system, manifested by this rich Guardianship, was noticed in the rural environment too, where, in 1902, it was founded the hospital from Rojiştea commune, which had a specialized medical staff and performant medical devices.
