Summary/Abstract: Fromthe political point of view, 2012 was a year full of surprises, with spectacular events, premiers and upheavals that led to important changes for Romania. Regarding the local elections, they had been expected with great interest both by the political class in Romania and the electorate, taking into consideration the PDL failure the governing process, the street protests and the discounted among all the categories of the Romanian society. In our study, wee took into account the local elections from Bălceşti, Vâlcea County, a small town, preponderantly agricultural, situated at the southern border of Vâlcea County. The result of the elections was not a surprise, the representative of USL, Ion Curelaru, being reconfirmed in the position of town mayor.
