Evaluation of the effectiveness of the project management methodology PRINCE2 in the public administration

Summary/Abstract: The project management issue is well-known, but in practice it makes it difficult to ensure effective supervision over the implementation of projects. Particularly important problem concerns public administration, which implements many projects without the use of explicit (approved) methodologies. This became the basis of the survey, which aims to assess the effectiveness of project management as an example of public administration. This article discusses the effectiveness of project management. Therefore, the authors explain and interpret the elements of e.g. business justification and risk management in the context of administration. Additionally, this article presents the assumptions and the results of the project carried out for the Prime Minister’s Office, aiming to adapt PRINCE2 to manage projects under the annual action plans.
