Summary/Abstract: As revealed by the title, the study presents the pedagogicpersonality of John Dewey, who – in the author`s opinion – is thefirst great pedagogue after Comenius, and who changes both avision and a mentality about the meaning of institutionalizededucation. The pragmatic character of J. Dewey`s pedagogicparadigm has brought restructuring in the American andEuropean educational systems. Thus, they have switched from amainly intellectualized (and theoretical) character to revaluing itsapplicative and practical aspects.
