Summary/Abstract: In this article we want to depict aspects of mental health asintegrating part of human and social health. We would alsolike to have an insight into the freshman students` knowledgeso as to find out their level of knowledge, attitude andmentality towards mental disorders and people suffering froma mental condition. Stigmatization towards people with mentaldisorders is still common in the social mentality. Theseattitudes contradict social orientations towards human beingsand their interests. Social distance brings about seriousconsequences upon the professional rehabilitation andreinsertion of this social category. They are regarded as acategory facing serious restrictions in terms of human rights. In our study we are trying to identify the freshman students`opinion, attitude, mentality and orientation towards theunderstanding of such a complex issue like mental disorders. We wish that the future professionals in the field ofpsychology, psycho-pedagogy, social work and pedagogybecame supporters of open and compassionate attitudestowards people with mental disorders. They should turn intoadvocates that would change the social perception and reducestigmata.
