Summary/Abstract: The present paper is part of an extended study aimed at recording the appearance and evolution of the concepts and terms: text (text1 and text2), context, discourse in the specialised Romanian studies dedicated to complementary (syntactic, stylistic, semiotic, pragmatic etc.) angles of linguistic investigation. In this particular sequence, we have tried to point out the fact that, from the concept of text1, as an aprioristic given fact of the analysis, to the concept of text2, as a dynamic linguistic activity, the object of investigation is absorbed into an unstable concept, the context, tackled by Tudor Vianu in an unprecedented way.
