Summary/Abstract: Children’s rights have become an important research topic in the last decades. Specialty literature and the collected empirical data show that there are still deficiencies in their application. Often, before a medical intervention there is no time for education, adults do not have any interest, or children are considered incapable of understanding medical problems. The present study is promoting the importance of health-related rights education for children. The research is based on a recent descriptive study, using a sample of 600 subjects out of which 200 were medical staff, 200 parents and 200 children. Health services should be supported by public education to prepare the child and his or her parents for the unexpected medical visits in time. To avoid situations in which both the child and the parents are unprepared, they must be previously educated. The legal status of pediatric patients includes the totality of their rights and obligations which consist of the regulations for children’s protection (child status) and the regulations for patients’ rights (patient status). The author identifies the main categories of children patients’ rights and the social aspects related to them. Contemporary educational systems have not recognized enough commitment in promoting these health-related human rights. Health services should be supported by public education to achieve a higher level of implementation of health related rights.
