Summary/Abstract: The present paper analyses different theoretical perspectives of representation and the manner in which they can be applied to foreign language learning. Representation is sees as a key cognitive process that is used when learning both grammar and vocabulary in a new language. Different ways of learning concepts in a foreign language are also discussed. By addressing the difference between static and dynamic representations, the paper also attempts to clarify the ways in which meaning and form are represented.
