Summary/Abstract: Millions of dollars and euros are spent annually by the rich for the purchase of flora and / or fauna that is destined to the preparation of food "delicacies" of "natural pharmaceutical products" or collections of trophies in the luxurious villas, pets or their private zoos. Such efforts have not escaped unnoticed by smugglers who are organized in cross-border networks and make huge profits from illicit trafficking in wildlife. Moreover, destruction of natural habitats of wild fauna and flora protected by the "businessmen" in a bid of expansion of virgin lands and highly attractive prices seriously affect the existence of these species.
