Summary/Abstract: The Romanian Office for Property Restitution from former enemy countries was established in November 1921. This institution aimed to restitute the assets taken during the Great War. In the 1920s there were five operational offices in Wiesbaden, Vienna, Budapest, Sofia and Constantinople. Among the items that needed to be identified were also heritage assets taken from museums, libraries and archive funds. The 1917 Romanian-Bulgarian disputes give us an idea about the impact that the Great War had on the conservation of the Romanian cultural heritage.
