Theatrical and musical life of Kyiv on the threshold of the twentieth century (based on materials from the local press)

Summary/Abstract: At the very beginning of the last century, Kiev was considered one of the cultural centers of the Russian Empire. Artistic life of the city was saturated and diverse, which is shown by numerous "witnesses of the epoch", including newspapers and magazines of that period. Analysis of publications of local press for the last few months of the year 1900 gives the opportunity to make up a panorama of the theatrical-musical life of Kiev at the edge of the 20th century.
