Summary/Abstract: This issue of Society and Economy contains the results of an international research project entitled “Sustainable Consumption”, supported by a grant from Norway through the Norwegian Financial Mechanism. The participants of the project were researchers from Corvinus University of Budapest, the Institute of Sociology of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, the Faculty of Social Sciences at Eötvös Loránd University, Védegylet (a large Hungarian environmental NGO) and the Association of Conscious Consumers in Hungary. The topics analyzed in the framework of the project are extremely diverse, ranging from patterns of sustainable consumption in Hungary to the effects of environmentally responsible business practices. Both theoretical and empirical contributions can be found on the pages of this issue. The researchers in the project did not reduce their viewpoint to analyzing the choices and decisions made by consumers and producers. The research aimed to uncover a broader picture on a new political, social and the economic framework which can contribute to developing a more sustainable consumption model for the European countries in the 21st century.
