Summary/Abstract: Prayer lies at the heart of a priest’s ministry and one of its special dimensions is teaching others. Meeting Jesus Christ gives strength and helps priests to be reliable witnesses of the faith in their parishes and school societies. This article describes prayer as the main foundation of the priest’s formation, his strength and the source of his vocation and dynamism, and of his authenticity as a priest in the parish and school society. It also points out the importance of forming communities by praying together and the consequences of lack of prayer in the life of a priest. Praying is the priority and ‚food’ for the ‚shepherds of souls’ and because some of them are teachers of religious education at the same time, their ministry would not be successful without it.
