Summary/Abstract: The paper presents the characteristics of seniors as a segment of consumers. The authors characterize in detail the tourist market, the characteristics of tourism demand and supply that can influence the behavior of seniors. In particular, the paper presents trends in tourism demand. In conclusion, the authors suggest the following hypothesis: seniors are not a monolithic segment of buyers. Needs and behavior of older consumers are changed with age. Existing behavior and habits but also marketing activities that create the needs and preferences of seniors affect their behavior on the tourist market. Segment of older consumers is a challenge for the modern marketing because there can no longer be used static and stereotypical way to treat this group of consumers. Individualism, changing needs with age, delay the aging process of biological, psychological and social development are examples of conditions that should be included in marketing efforts.
