Summary/Abstract: Abstract The importance of the Great Union, achieved on the 1st of December 1918, in Alba Iulia, was consigned, both at the time, but also subsequently, in diverse publications appeared in the country and abroad. Its echoes were resonant, through the apparition of a series of articles dedicated to the achievement of the great ideal of our people. Concurrently, the Great Assembly, through the voice of Vasile Goldiş, the one who uttered the address and resolution of the Union, he proved his democratic and plebiscitary spirit, having a remarkable echo in the Banat journalism as well. In the publicist space of the historic Banat, the news of the Great Union was spread through the intervention of the five publications that existed here at the time in the year 1918. We are talking about the newspaper „Drapelul” (the Flag) from Lugoj, „Foaia diecezană” (the Diocesan Paper) and „Lumina” (the Light) from Caransebeş, „Legiunea română” (the Romanian Legion) from Oraviţa and „Opinca” (the Peasant’s Sandal) from Coştei/Vârşeţ. In the current paper we will highlight the main contributions of the people from Banat in the press, reflecting the events which lead to the forging of the Romanian national unitary state, accentuating the idea that these publications represented true tribunes of mobilisation for the population in order to accomplish this grandiose mission.
