Summary/Abstract: The paper presents chosen outcomes of the field research conducted in 2011. The research taken as a whole was devoted to women behavior on a food market but the article focuses on the detailed problem of women participation in decision making process. Both buying conventional food and ecological one have been taken into account while estimating women share in the stages of the decision making process as well as in the buying activity itself. The research outcomes show that even though the level of women education and professional activity has risen in the last few years they still remain the main decision-makers and food purchasers in their households. These outcomes correspond with the stereotyped role that women play in polish family.
