The contactless card and the security of its use by the consumer

Summary/Abstract: The article presents a brief history of the contactless card, the contactless card emplacement in the classification of cards, its construction and the names of the various contactless technologies. Then presented the principle of operation and the safety of using the contactless card (the vendor participation in the transaction, the way of reading data from the card, the contactless card marking, the protection against unauthorized use of cards, the responsibility of the consumer and the bank). Presented also the offer of the contactless cards offered by several banks operating in Poland (with the division of types of cards) and the places where the payment with contactless cards is possible.
