Summary/Abstract: The confidence in banking and financial institutions in the context of current information society. An overview with the results of global financial crisis in the background. Close relations among the global economy players in many cases give positive outcomes, but they also can cause crises with calamitous effects. In recent years, the condition and the operation ways of the financial and banking sector in the USA have had an enormous influence on the situation of the other world’s economies. The financial crisis with its peak in 2008 in the USA, affected the majority of the world’s countries. A lot of different theories on the topic of the crisis’ origin have emerged, but also some efforts have been made to prevent such events in the future. Of a great importance is to establish if the financial sector without any moral basis should even function. It might be useful to reach to the tradition and experience of the Islamic banking, of which ethical and moral principles may encourage the customers to trust the financial and banking institutions once again.
