Giving rise to the institutionalised system of censorship in Romania

Summary/Abstract: By applying Soviet methods of censorship, ’till the end of the fourties,unified methods of control were inplemented in the socialist east-european countries. The Romanian institution of The General Directorate of Pressformed in a short time its structure and set the principles of functioning,which conformed through the times to the variations of ideological direction. The system of control had the function of eliminating from the public sphere all the elements that clashed with the picture disseminated by the institutions of propaganda.
