Summary/Abstract: The first Hungarian-language newspaper in Transylvania was published in Martin Hochmeister Jr.’s typography in 1790. Its primary objectives were the publication of reports of the Russian-Turkish war, the cultivation of the Hungarian language, and the diffusion of news from Transylvania to other newspapers of the age. Although it did not succeed in establishing anew style of information transmission, the newspaper managed to honorably fulfill its mission, notwithstanding the difficulties it had to face. The paper contains a description of the issues extant in libraries from Romania and Hungary, as well as those no longer available but processed by various researchers at some point in the past.
