Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the present research is defining remarks of school managers, who serve at primary and secondary schools on values and gaining values. The present research employed descriptive survey model, and the data were collected with a questionnaire including open-ended items developed by the researcher. The present research was conducted on 35 school managers, who serve at primary and secondary schools in the provincial centre of Sanlıurfa. Data were analysed in accordance with descriptive analysis method, which is one of the qualitative research techniques. According to the findings obtained in the present research, the most important three values that shape school managers’ lives are “honesty, love and respect”. These are followed by “justice, tolerance and commitment to family” values. Most of the school managers stated that family played the primary role in students’ gaining values, and school plays the second important role after family. Additionally, they emphasized the negative effects of mass communication tools on gaining values. School managers indicated that they contributed to gaining values by guiding the responsible parties, and serving as role models. Even small in numbers, some managers provided negative remarks on the effect of school managers in gaining values.
