Summary/Abstract: Due to globalization, developments in information technology have given rise to the requirement for qualified human labor that can participate in this globalization process by means of their knowledge and skills. Formal education plays an important role in meeting this requirement. Education is regarded as a fundamental necessity for everyone in today’s information society. Modern societies which can provide individuals equal opportunities also offer a tool for vertical social mobility. Structuring education to make it include all segments of society regardless of gender, age, race and ethnicity is important for ensuring social mobility. This study examines the relationship between social mobility and girls’ participation in the education system through the elimination of gender inequality in education. In addition, this relationship is also discussed through the contexts of economic development, the development of a more egalitarian social structure, lower child mortality and the education of the next generation.
