Summary/Abstract: There is a direct relationship between socio-economic and academic development of countries in connection with usage of scientific data. The main purpose of this study was to determine whether population and socio-economic development affect the publication productivity and the number of publications showing the academic development and to compare socio-economic and academic development of Turkic World countries. In this respect we compared socio-economic development levels of countries containing gross domestic product (GDP), purchasing power parity (PPP) GDP values calculated from the calculation of GDP per person, human development index (HDI)) and Internet users (IU) and we evaluated academic developments of Turkic World countries in accordance with the number of publications by scanning the Web of Science database between 1992 to 2014. Relations were searched with correlation analysis and the number of publications of Turkey in 2015 was estimated by regression analysis with curve fitting and the results were discussed.
