Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to provide a study mystical experience, understood in terms of an in-depth relationship between God and man. Particular attention is given to the writings of Edith Stein, especially those analyzing a work by St. Teresa of Avila titled ’’The interior castle”. The questions that the author wants to place here in particular are intended to better understand the meaning of this difficult and specific subject, and to identify its characteristic content. The point is to capture the essence of the mystical experience according to Stein, which differs, for example, from spiritual, theological and psychological reading. It turns out that mystical experience is associated with the risk of meeting with ignorance, is a reference to something new, is a meeting of someone or something that has not been experienced yet. Such experience will thus mean: a) encountering a differentiation; b) being open to what is new, c) being ready to take something from the new (from the secret of transcendence). In short, a person who discovered God through their in-depth spiritual experience (mystic), does not keep it to themselves. On the contrary, such a person is called to fulfill their duties to live in the world along with others. There is no option for isolation. Their personal experience of God is a source of power to share the experienced grace. For them, this experience, as a return to the center of oneself to find God, is the greatest opening to others. And that is the “mystical experience of both the inner and the transcendent”, that is the very self and God (self in God).
