Summary/Abstract: The purpose of this article is to present current medical trends in the treatment of persons with disorders of sex development (DSD), connected juridical trends, as well as their psychological and sexological consequences. Nowadays, the standards of treatment are not uniform in many countries and physicians’ capabilities of help may be restricted by law, which frequently ignores DSD people, and as consequence neglect dilemmas of patients with DSD and their parents. These problems can also be perceived differently by different specialists, depending on their medical paradigm. Various standards and uncertainty about which treatment really takes into account the well-being of the DSD child led to creating many ethical guidelines and recommendations by interdisciplinary teams.
